BG3 Adamantine Forge Guide: How to Craft Legendary Gear & Beat Grym

Where Is the Adamantine Forge?
Grymforge (Underdark). Take the boat from the Underdark beach (near Myconid Colony). Navigate through the duergar fortress to the forge area at the far end.
Mithral Ore Locations (2 pieces only)
| Location | How to Get |
|---|---|
| Main forge area | Lava pool near the waypoint. Look for glowing blue veins in the rock walls. |
| Ledge above forge | Jump or Misty Step to a ledge near the fast-travel point. Second vein there. |
Only 2 pieces exist in the game. Use them wisely.
Best Adamantine Items to Craft
| Item | Priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Adamantine Splint Armor (heavy) | #1 | 18 AC, negates crits, Reeling debuff on attackers |
| Adamantine Shield | #2 | Attackers become Reeling when they miss. Stack with armor. |
| Adamantine Scale Mail (medium) | #3 | 16 AC + full DEX mod, negates crits |
| Adamantine Longsword | #4 | +1, ignores slashing resistance |
Recommendation: Heavy armor (for Fighter/Paladin) + Shield. This combo gives the tank Reeling on BOTH being hit (armor) AND on misses (shield). Enemies get -1 to hit per stack = death spiral.
How to Use the Forge
- Insert Mithral Ore into the crucible (center platform)
- Insert a mould (found around the forge — choose splint, scale, shield, sword, scimitar, or mace)
- Pull the forge lever (lava flows). Platform descends.
- Grym appears. Kill him (hammer strategy — see our Grym boss guide).
- After Grym dies, the forge spits out your crafted item.
- Repeat for second piece.
