BG3 Counting House Vault Guide: How to Access Every Vault & Minsc Encounter
Complete BG3 Counting House guide. All vault key locations, how to access every vault, the Minsc encounter, and every piece of loot in Baldur's Gate's central bank.
Locating the Counting House
Lower City, southeastern area. Large stone building with guards at the entrance. Bankers patrol the main floor. Vaults are downstairs.
Accessing the Vaults
Talk to the head banker. Pass a Persuasion/Deception check to get a vault pass. Or sneak downstairs through a side entrance. The vault area has:
- Vault 1-9: Numbered vaults requiring keys (found on bankers, nobles, or quest NPCs)
- High-Security Vault: Requires a puzzle solution. Contains the highest-value loot.

Minsc Encounter
The real Minsc is robbing the High-Security vault with a doppelganger Jaheira. Fight the doppelganger. Minsc escapes into the sewers. Chase him to recruit him (see our Minsc recruitment guide).
Loot Tips
- Bring a character with high Sleight of Hand for locked vault doors
- The vault manager carries multiple vault keys — pickpocket him
- Visit after accepting the “Aid the Underduke” quest for maximum rewards
