Mountain Pass vs Underdark

The Mountain Pass and Underdark are two routes to Act 2. Do both. They’re not mutually exclusive. The Mountain Pass (level 4-5) contains Lae’zel’s critical story content, the Blood of Lathander legendary weapon, and unique loot.

Entering the Mountain Pass

From the Goblin Camp or Waukeen’s Rest: head east. The Mountain Pass entrance is guarded by a githyanki patrol. Pass a Deception check or fight them. Bring Lae’zel for unique dialogue.

Key Locations

1. Lady Esther (Trader)

On the mountain path before the monastery. She’s a Society of Brilliance member with unique items. She asks for a githyanki egg. Accept or refuse. The Gloves of Dexterity (sets DEX to 18) are sold here.

2. Death Shepherds

Two undead shepherds on the mountain path. They resurrect each other. Kill both in the same round or they keep reviving. Use Radiant damage.

3. Rosymorn Monastery

Destroyed temple complex. Contains:

• Four Ceremonial Weapons (for Blood of Lathander)
• Dawnmaster puzzle (place weapons on pedestals in stained glass room)
• Githyanki Crèche entrance (basement)

4. Crèche Y’llek

Proceeding to Act 2

The Mountain Pass exit leads directly to the Shadow-Cursed Lands (near the drider ambush). Enter here or go back to the Underdark route and enter through Grymforge.
