How to Get the Owlbear Cub

Step 1: The Owlbear Cave

Northeast of the Blighted Village, follow the river to a cave entrance. Inside: an Owlbear mother protecting her cub. Approach. The mother is hostile. You have two choices:

• Kill the mother (recommended): Fight her. She’s tough at level 3. Spare the cub.
• Leave: Use Speak with Animals. Convince the mother you’re not a threat. Leave. The goblins will kill her later.

Step 2: Goblin Camp

Go to the Goblin Camp courtyard. The cub is now being used for “Chicken Chase” by the goblins. Talk to Krolla. Offer to buy the cub. Pass a Persuasion check. Or just kill the goblins and take the cub.

Step 3: Camp Visits

The cub will visit your camp at night several times:

• First visit: It’s scared. Give it food. Don’t scare it away.
• Second visit: It’s injured. Heal it (Healing Word works). Pet it.
• Final: It stays permanently. Best camp pet in the game.

Camp Interactions

• Scratch and the Owlbear Cub become best friends
• The cub brings you random trinkets occasionally
• You can pet it. Always pet it.
• In the final battle, it appears as an ally (summonable)
