Getting Sussur Bark

Go to the Sussur Tree in the Underdark (west of Myconid Colony). The glowing blue tree is surrounded by Hook Horrors. Sneak past or fight them. Harvest the bark from the base of the tree. You only get one piece.

Crafting the Weapon

Return to the Blighted Village. Enter the blacksmith’s basement (building with the forge in the cellar). Use the smithing table. Combine Sussur Bark + a basic weapon (greatsword, sickle, or dagger).

Which Sussur Weapon to Make?

WeaponDamageBest For
Sussur Greatsword2d6+1Best melee option. Silence on hit disables caster bosses.
Sussur Sickle1d4+1Skip. Low damage. Only for flavor.
Sussur Dagger1d4+1Skip. You’ll find better daggers soon.

Make the greatsword. Silence on hit means enemy casters can’t cast spells with verbal components. This trivializes multiple boss fights (Ethel, Balthazar, any enemy wizard).

How Silence Works

When you hit an enemy with the Sussur weapon: they’re Silenced for 1 turn (no save). Silenced creatures cannot:

  • Cast spells with verbal components (90% of spells)
  • Use Bardic Inspiration
  • Make sound-based attacks
The Sussur Greatsword + Everburn Blade gives you two amazing greatswords for Act 1. Have Lae’zel wield one, Karlach the other. Switch to Sussur against casters.
