How to Recruit Halsin in BG3: Complete Druid Recruitment Guide (Act 1-2)

Act 1: Rescue Halsin

1. Reach the Goblin Camp (west of Blighted Village)
2. Enter the Shattered Sanctum → Worg Pens (bottom-right)
3. Halsin is in bear form, caged. Kill the goblins. Talk to him.
4. Halsin asks you to kill the three goblin leaders (Gut, Minthara, Dror Ragzlin)
5. After killing all three, return to Emerald Grove. Halsin is there. He joins your camp but NOT as a playable companion yet.

Act 2: Thaniel & The Shadow Curse

1. At Last Light Inn: talk to the unconscious Flaming Fist (Art Cullagh)
2. Find Art’s lute at the House of Healing (X-ray room, locked chest)
3. Play the lute for Art. He wakes up. Mentions Thaniel.
4. Halsin opens a portal to the Shadowfell to find Thaniel. Protect the portal — waves of shadow enemies attack for 4 turns. Cast Spirit Guardians + Wall of Fire at the portal.
5. Thaniel is rescued but incomplete. Find Oliver (Thaniel’s missing half) in the House of Deep Shadows (east of Moonrise). Beat him in hide-and-seek, then in combat. He rejoins Thaniel.
6. Return to camp. Halsin joins as a playable companion.
