How to Recruit Minsc in BG3: Complete Minsc & Boo Recruitment Guide

Prerequisites

• Jaheira must be alive, in your party, and friendly
• Progress the main story until the Lower City is accessible
• The Counting House quest triggers Minsc’s appearance

Step 1: Counting House Vault

Go to the Counting House in the Lower City. Enter the vault area. Minsc (controlled by the Absolute) is robbing the vaults with fake Jaheira (a doppelganger). Fight the doppelganger. Minsc escapes into the sewers.

Step 2: The Sewers

Follow Minsc into the Undercity sewers. The entrance is near the Counting House. Navigate through the sewer tunnels. You’ll find Minsc in the Abandoned Cistern area.

Step 3: Saving Minsc

Fight Minsc. Use non-lethal attacks (toggle in Passives). You must knock him unconscious, not kill him. Jaheira talks him down — the Emperor weakens the Absolute’s control. Minsc comes to his senses.

Boo (his miniature giant space hamster) is with him throughout. After recruitment, Minsc has unique banter with Jaheira and every companion.

Minsc as a Companion

• Class: Ranger (Hunter subclass at level 12)
• Unique trait: Boo as a throwable companion (yes, really)
• Personality: Iconic. Beloved. “Go for the eyes, Boo!”
