How to Romance Karlach in BG3: Complete Romance Guide (Act 1-3)

Act 1: Burning Hot

1. Recruit Karlach, kill Anders. She’s immediately warm and enthusiastic.
2. First upgrade at Dammon (Emerald Grove, 1 Infernal Iron). Now she can touch without burning.
3. Tell her you want to touch her. She’s ecstatic. First kiss scene.
4. At the tiefling party: she’s excited but can’t act on it yet (engine still too hot).

Act 2: Cooling Down

1. Second upgrade at Dammon (Last Light Inn, second Infernal Iron). Engine is stable enough.
2. At camp: she wakes you up. First romance scene. She’s sweet, passionate, and direct.
3. After the scene: you can give her a hug. Do it.

Act 3: The Date

Karlach asks you on a date. Go to a restaurant in the Lower City. She orders everything on the menu. It’s the most wholesome scene in BG3. She talks about her fears — she doesn’t want to die.

Karlach’s Ending

The engine can’t be fixed. She faces death or Avernus. Best romance ending: Go to Avernus with her. The epilogue shows you fighting demons together, cigars in mouth, Karlach alive and hopeful. There’s dialogue hinting at a potential engine fix. Hope.

Karlach Approval Quick Tips

• Be kind, enthusiastic, protective of innocents
• Never side with slavers, devils, or oppressors
• Give her infernal iron for Dammon ASAP
• Hug her whenever the option appears
• Don’t make deals with devils (Raphael, Mizora)
